The mission of the Avian Science Center is to promote ecological awareness and informed decision making through the collection, synthesis, and dissemination of science-based information on western birds.
Spring in Montana ....
We are gearing up for summer 2008! We have plans for more Flammulated Owl studies, point co
unt surveys all around Montana and North Idaho, and restoration monitoring. We have now hired for all of our positions. Thanks for your interest.
Our citizen monitoring study of Flammulated Owls was a great success last year, and we are planning to continue this project in 2008. Thanks to all who helped collect late-night data in 2007! For the upcoming season, we will continue this citizen science program in the Missoula area and will add surveys around Helena. For more information, click HERE >>.

Potential Post-Doc Opportunity
If you are are looking for a Post-Doctoral opportunity and are interested in working with a geographically extensive 10 + year data set of bird point count data, there is potential to collaborate in the submission of grants/fellowships (e.g., NSF Bioinformatics, TNC's Smith Fellowship). Our data lend themselves well to issues of species distribution and habitat relationships and we welcome inquiries to work together. Contact Dr. R. L. Hutto to learn more.
Thank You for Supporting the Avian Science Center!
