Juniper Removal
The idea–
To improve the condition of riparian areas near Dillon, Montana, that were historically willow-dominated streams, the Bureau of Land Management had all juniper removed along selected streams as of August 2008. The Avian Science Center is monitoring the success of this restoration effort by conducting point-count surveys on 89 points in 5 sites during the spring and summer months and documenting changes in bird communities and vegetative structure in these areas. This effort has been increased to include several control sites for the field season of 2009.
