Species of Special Concern

Goshawk

At times, federal and state agencies pay special attention to bird species that are “listed” as Threatened, Endangered, or of special concern.  We have conducted studies on the distribution patterns of several bird species (listed in the subheadings to the left) in order to better understand the vegetation conditions associated with their presence.  In each instance we are working toward building a spatially explicit model to predict where the species is likely to occur on the broader landscape.  In so doing, we also hope to shed light on the effects of our current, mappable land management practices on the same species.
