You need not be a professional scientist to take part in scientific research or to help with gathering scientific data. Efforts by citizen scientists around the country are essential as these dedicated people collect valuable information and help to further research, monitoring, and conservation efforts.

The Avian Science Center developed a citizen science project in 2007 -- Flammulated Owl monitoring in western Montana -- and we plan to continue this program in 2008. See FLAMS for more information.
We also hope to incorporate citizen scientists into our wetland monitoring program. More details to follow. Many projects require that you go no further than your own backyard!
